<h2>April 2013 Newsletter</h2>
<p><strong>From the Brewer&#8230;</strong></p>
<div>
<div>
<div>Well, we had hoped that March would have brought on the springtime weather here</div>
<div>in St. Louis, but after a foot of snow last week, we are all looking forward to what</div>
<div>April brings.</div>
<div></div>
<div>The last three months of cold, have brought on the releases of three, huge, barrel-</div>
<div>aged imperial stouts; Barrel-Aged Abraxas, Barrel-Aged Sump Coffee Stout, and</div>
<div>Barrel-Aged 17. These seemed fitting. However, for hopefully the warmer weather</div>
<div>of April, we are pulling from the barrels one of my favorite nice weather sippers,</div>
<div>Savant Beersel!</div>
<div></div>
<div>Savant Beersel was actually conceptualized while I was sitting at a winery in my</div>
<div>hometown. The winemaker is a family friend who is a farmer turned winemaker.</div>
<div>In late 2011, while sitting on their deck, having some wine, Martie, the winemaker,</div>
<div>brought me over a glass of fresh-pressed Chambourcin grape juice. The color,</div>
<div>aroma, and flavor of this juice were absolutely spectacular! For last year’s Savant</div>
<div>Beersel, we were too late to use these grapes, but this year, I hand picked, with</div>
<div>the help of my father, 480 lbs of these beautiful Chambourcins, for your 100%</div>
<div>Brettanomyces fermentation, Chambourcin wine barrel aged, funky, Chambourcin</div>
<div>grape, Belgian Pale Ale, enjoyment.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Savant (knowing), Beersel (the municipality in Belgium in which this Brettanomyces</div>
<div>strain comes from) pours a rose-hued color with aromatics similar to an old</div>
<div>Burgeoning wine. Soft oak, farmhouse dust, and grape skins round everything out.</div>
<div>Limited bottles and draft will be available. You can expect Savant Beersel to develop in the bottle for years to come.</div>
<div></div>
<div>As always, thank you to all of our fans out there and your continued support. We</div>
<div>hope that you enjoy our 4th barrel-aged beer release this year as much as we do!</div>
<div></div>
<div>Cheers,
</div>
</div>

<h2>March 2013 Newsletter</h2>
<p><strong>From the Brewer&#8230;</strong></p>
<div>
<div>
<p>I know you are daydreaming about the return of spring. I have heard your complaints about the cold and snow. I understand that winter is getting her last few punches in, but let’s face it, we can deal with it. Don&#8217;t sprint towards spring; instead, let’s make the most of these chilly nights in the present. Grab someone close, sit down by the fire and enjoy a bottle of 17, Perennial Artisan Ales Mint Chocolate Stout releasing this month.</p>
<p>17 is a decadent chocolate stout complimented with a smooth mint finish perfect for winter’s last hurrah. Clocking in at 10% alcohol by volume, it is sure to warm you inside and out. If you stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter accounts, then you might be able to catch the release of Barrel Aged 17. This version has been sitting in rye whiskey barrels for over a year, just for your enjoyment. We’re not going to make a big deal about this release, and when it’s gone, it’s gone. No hard feelings, we just made a small quantity to go around.</p>
<p>If you don’t feel like you can make through the rest of winter on your own, stop by the tasting room and enjoy yourself amongst the company of friends. We have plenty of beer for you, I promise.</p>
<p>Us brewers have plenty planned for the beer-loving public in the coming months, but we aren’t going to rush it. If you cannot stand the wait, our weekly Thursday night releases tease as to what is coming down the pipeline. Soon enough, these beers&#8217; time will come and I guarantee we will let you know about it. However, for now, let’s revel in the current season and make the most of it!</p>
<p>Drink up,</p>

<h2>February 2013 Newsletter</h2>
<p><strong>From the Brewer&#8230;</strong></p>
<div>
<div>Hard to believe it, but the first month of 2013 is already in the books. With our eventful January here at Perennial and even more planned for the first half of 2013, sometimes it just seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day for Phil, Cory and Chuck to get everything done. Well, that is where I come in. Allow me to introduce myself; I am the new guy, Andy Hille.</div>
<div>
<p>I cannot tell you what a pleasure it has been to join the Perennial family at such an exciting time. Last month saw the release of our barrel-aged Abraxas and Aria, our Brettanomyces fermented Belgian Ale in bottles. Both beers have been labors of love, but the reception among the beer drinking community in St. Louis and beyond has been something truly special. Because of your support, we are able to both expand our staff and production capacity, and for that, we are forever grateful.</p>
<p>Enough about us though, let us get to the most important topic, the beer. We are excited to announce that we will be bringing back our Black Walnut Dunkel this month. Black Walnut Dunkel is our rich, malty German-style Dunkelweiss with Missouri black walnuts. But that’s not all! In the near future, look for two more barrel-aged releases, a barrel-aged coffee stout (a collaboration with Sump Coffee) and 17, our barrel-aged mint chocolate stout.</p>
<p>I look forward to meeting everyone in the coming months. If you&#8217;re at the tasting room and you see me, please feel to stop me and introduce yourself. . . I’ll be around.</p>
<p>Thanks again and cheers!</p>

<div>With our first full year at Perennial behind us, we feel that 2012 set the tone for the direction we’re trying to take the brewery. We brewed several beers that we plan to release again in 2013, including Black Walnut Dunkel, Savant Beersel, Fantastic Voyage, Peach Berliner Weisse, Heart of Gold, Abraxas, and Vermilion. We were pleased to have our beers distributed to new markets: Metro East/Southern Illinois, Columbia MO, Springfield MO, Chicago, New York City, and Peoria IL. We were also fortunate to receive some awards for our beers. Heart of Gold won a silver medal (Other Strong Ale category) at the Great American Beer Festival and barrel-aged Abraxas won a silver medal (Experimental Beer category) at the Festival of Barrel-Aged Beer.</div>
<div></div>
<div>While 2012 was a great year here at Perennial – we expect even greater things for 2013. We’re excited to announce a new flagship beer, Aria, which we plan to release for distribution the week of January 21st. Aria is a Belgian-style Pale Ale with a secondary fermentation on Brettanomyces, and will be available year-round in 750 ml bottles and draft. January will also kick off a five month run in which you will see Perennial release a different barrel-aged beer each month. In order, these are barrel-aged Abraxas (Perennial tasting room only), barrel-aged Coffee Stout (tasting room only), 17 Mint Chocolate Stout (tasting room only), Savant Beersel (distribution), and an Oud Bruin-style Brown Ale (distribution). We’re also pleased to announce distribution to new markets in 2013. We will begin distribution in the Kansas City market in January, and we plan to launch in DC and Philadelphia in February.</div>
<div></div>
<div>We appreciate all the support you have given us throughout our first year and we’re very excited to brew some new beers for you in 2013.</div>

<div><strong>Congratulations&#8230;</strong><br />
We are proud to announce two exciting happenings in the month of November! First we must welcome Owen Russell Wymore to the Perennial Family! Owen was born on November 12th and is the second child for Co-Founders Emily and Phil Wymore.<br />
The following weekend Perennial&#8217;s Barrel Aged Abraxas won a silver medal in the Experimental Beer category at the 2012 Festival of Barrel Aged Beers.  We are honored to have won a medal at first FOBAB appearance. Our Blueberry and Raspberry Flanders did not take home a medal, but did receive some great press! A huge thank you goes out to the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild for putting on such a fantastic festival!</p>
<p><strong>From the Brewer&#8230;</strong></p>
<div>Finally, its cold outside! I know that I might be in the minority, but I love the chilly weather. For me, this weather welcomes whiskey and big, bold beers! As most of you know, we dont make whiskey at Perennial, but we do like to brew a wide variety of beers, and most recently, some big bold ones! This December is the return of a revamped Vermilion. Those of you who made it to the tasting room last winter are familiar with the name Vermilion and our small, tasting room only release of it. This year however, we are doing a full production run of a new recipe for Vermilion to have in the tasting room, in select draft accounts, and in our 750 mL bottles. Vermilion 2012 is a big, rich English style Barleywine that, as its name suggests, has tints of ruby around the edges of its brown body, with a toffee, caramel, toasted pecan sweetness that is kept in balance with a smooth, alcohol warmth, and slightly fruity American hop note. This will be perfect around the fire, with a cigar, with a rich meal, or just while cozying up and relaxing with family and friends this season. We hope you enjoy this new addition to the Perennial lineup as much as we enjoy brewing new beers for you.</div>
<div></div>
<div>ps. If you like barrel aged beers, look for some Vermilion to possibly find its way to some super unique barrels that we received recently <img src='http://www.perennialbeer.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8230;</div>
<div></div>
<div>Happy Holidays,</div>

<h2>November 2012 Newsletter</h2>
<p><strong>Congratulations&#8230;</strong><br />
We are proud to announce that Perennial&#8217;s Heart of Gold Wheat Wine won a silver medal at this year&#8217;s Great American Beer Festival. It took 2nd in the &#8220;Other Strong Ale&#8221; category, runner up to Boulevard&#8217;s Reverb Imperial Pilsner. We are honored to have won a medal in our inaugural year and first GABF appearance. Hopefully there will be many more to come!</p>
<p><strong>From the Brewer&#8230;</strong><br />
We have finally made it through our first year! Thank you so much from everyone here at Perennial for all of your love and support as we have made headway into the St. Louis beer community. Our Anniversary Festival was great fun, and we were happy to share our limited releases with those of you in attendance. We have had some really exciting releases lately here at the brewery; IPA #4 has been put on draft in the tasting room. This IPA is a 10.5% Imperial IPA that has huge citrus notes as well as a nice malty backbone, making it an ideal IPA as we are coming into the cold months. Phil has also brewed a new flagship beer, Aria, a Brettanomyces fermented Belgian Ale. We had a cask of this at our anniversary party, will continue to have draft in the tasting room, and will soon be bottling this one! In addition, get excited for the release of the 2012 Abraxas. We have brewed the first couple batches already, and will be releasing it this month, with the 2011 bourbon barrel version being released it January. Thanks again for all the support through our first year and we will see you soon!!!</p>
<div></div>
<div>Cheers,</div>
