Welcome to Fall!
As the season changes, so do the beers. This is especially true here at
Perennial where we use in-season ingredients to brew our unique beers.
Autumn means more malts, some spices, and beers to warm you with that
chill in the air. Before we get to all the events and new beers, here’s
a quick look back at our first summer season!
We had several new beers this summer that were all well received in the
market. We released Violet, our Belgian Trippel brewed with California
Pluots, in June. There are only a few bottles left in St. Louis and
Chicago so grab one of those while you still can. In July we released
Fantastic Voyage, a Milk Stout brewed with Coconut. Not only is this
beer great, but it was also a brainchild of our R&D brewer, Jim Leabig.
You should be able to find Fantastic Voyage in all our markets,
including New York City! Finally, our August release was the new
seasonal, Peach Berliner Weisse. Each batch used 750 lbs of Missouri
and southern Illinois peaches that were all pitted in house by our
amazing staff and a few enthusiastic volunteers. The Peach should still
be on the shelves of your favorite craft beer store, but hurry up
because our new beer will be here before you know it!
There were some great events this summer as well, including St. Louis
Craft Beer Week, Great Taste of the Midwest, and Oak Park Micro Brew
Review. Perennial hosted the first Midwest Belgian Fest during St.
Louis Craft Beer Week with breweries from Missouri, Kansas, Illinois,
Indiana, and more. It was a great festival and we can’t wait to host it
again next year! We were also privilaged to participate in this year’s
Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison, Wisconsin. We could not have
asked for better weather, or better beer! We served our Peach Berliner
Weisse, Fantastic Voyage, Mint Chocolate Stout, Hommel Bier, Saison de
Lis and brewer Cory King’s Blueberry Flanders cask was in the Real Ale
tent. The next weekend we poured Peach Berliner Weisse and Hommel Bier
at the Oak Park Micro Brew Review in Chicago. It was a great event on
another beautiful day. A big thank you to Chicago for receiving our
beer so well!
And here is what you have all been waiting for – the answer to what
beers you can expect to see in the upcoming months. While brewing beer
is not an exact science, our Fall Beer Calendar is as follows:
